Short appetizer

Just to give a short impression of what it is we do we uploaded these two videos of our favorite thing to do; blowing stuff up. As mentioned in the first post these 2 clips are shot with a Sony Ericsson K800i, so the quality is not that high, but you should still be able to see what is going on...

In this first movie Mik and Jam set up for a small test of what it would look like to blow up a ½L nitrogen bomb under water. There are actually two bottles in the lake, but one of them is only used as a sinker to keep the bomb under the surface. Eventually, when the bottle containing the nitrogen began to swell it surfaced and only 2/3 of the bomb was under the surface at the time of the explosion, but it still had a great effect:

With this second test we wanted to find out which effect a nitrogen bomb would have buried in sand. The first thing we did was to bury a bomb about 1m in sand, but that wasn't exactly succesful, succes being a huge explosion that is. Then we tried to have the bottle buried right to the neck and that was much closer to what we wanted, and ofcourse we got it on film. The clip has been edited, on the k800i, in Danish and the text roughly says; "Nitrogen bomb in sand", "3 minutes later" and "Sand in the eye, NICE":

We hope you had fun watching these clips and we'll be back soon with more clips and theory about all the fun things we can do with physics...

What is it all about?

Welcome to the JAMMIKSIS Physics blog. The name JAMMIKSIS refers to the three contributors of the site; Jam (Jacob Markussen), Mik (Mik Haar) and SiS (Simon Straarup)...

We are three crazy young men who enjoy exploring the world of physics to create exciting and fun experiments in order to test what is possible with physics and to entertain everyone who would be interested in watching us testing the world of physics to the limit...

We will be posting a lot of movies with us blowing stuff up, making rockets and other crazy stuff. Most of the movies are shot with a camera phone (Sony k800i) but we are trying to get hold of a better camera to get some higher quality movies available...

Please remember, when watching the videos, that we have had a lot of training in handling all the dangerous things we use in our experiments, and none of it should therefore be experimented with by people who are not trained to do so...

We hope you will enjoy our videos and share them with friends and others who could find it interesting. And please post a comment if you like the movies or have any questions. Enjoy your stay and remember that knowledge is power...
